Old World Recipe

Tiramisu (from the Italian language, spelled tiramisù [ˌtiramiˈsu], meaning “pick me up” or “cheer me up”) is a coffee-flavoured Italian dessert. It is made of ladyfingers (savoiardi) dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese, flavoured with cocoa.

Tradition tiramisu is a pudding-like dessert that usually consists of sponge cake or ladyfingers dipped in a liqueur, then layered with grated chocolate and rich custard. Tramisu was originally made as a loose custard. It is only in recent years that using mascarpone cheese has come into fashion.
